Why You Need Insurance

Protect your belongings and yourself

Self Storage Insurance

It is impossible to account for every eventuality. A self storage facility may be a safer place to store your belongings than at home in many cases, but that does not mean there is no danger of disaster, theft, or other damages.

While Hillsborough Self Storage maintains required insurance, this insurance is not required to cover damages to or loss of the property you store within your self storage unit.

The best way to protect yourself against these potential losses is to carry your own insurance that covers the items.

Your homeowner's insurance may sometimes cover the items in your self storage unit, but this is not a guarantee and often has coverage limitations. Make sure to check your existing coverage and determine if you need additional insurance to cover the items in your storage unit!

Risks

Here are some of the dangers that can occur at a self storage facility. You will notice that many of these are similar to the dangers of storing items in your own home. Hillsborough Self Storage takes many precautions to ensure your items are in as little danger as possible at our self storage facility, but sometimes these events are inevitable,

  • Mold
  • Mildew
  • Fire & Smoke Damage
  • Water Damage (from fire response)
  • Wind Damage
  • Vandalism/Theft
